Welcome to the Pleasant Oaks Gem and Mineral Club Home Page

The Pleasant Oaks Gem and Mineral Club of Dallas (POGMC) is organized to promote interest in the various earth sciences, in particular, those areas dealing with the science of gems, minerals, and fossils, the art of cutting and polishing gemstones, metal crafts, jewelry arts, and all related fields. The Club is a not-for-profit organization established for charitable and educational purposes.

OUR NEXT MEETING will be on Monday, November 3, 2025. We will meet at our normal location, the Knights of Columbus Council 6402 Hall, located at 3722 Cavalier Drive, Garland. We start at 6:00 and end by 8:00 - note the new start and finish time. The officers for 2025-6 will be installed. For the presentation, be prepared for something spooky; it will be something Halloween related!

VISITORS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!

POGMC offers a unique way to learn the various aspects of our rock hound hobby. Periodically, we have hands-on sessions that could include mineral identification, wire wrapping, gem tree fabrication, and other basic lapidary skills. If we are not holding a hands-on session, then we will have a guest speaker or another presentation of general interest to all members. The Club also sponsors Field trips and shares these trips with other clubs and societies.

POGMC is a member of the "South Central Federation of Mineral Societies" and is affiliated with the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies.

Meeting Times, Location, and Driving Directions:

• Time - We meet the First Monday of the Month, starting at 6:00 PM.
• Where - We meet in the Knights of Columbus Council 6402 hall located at 3722 Cavalier Drive, Garland, TX 75042.
• How to find it - The building can be a bit tricky to find the first time you go there. If you have a GPS, the street address will take you there - the building will be on the south side. If it is dark, on the opposite side of the street, look for the big, bright neon sign "REF EXPERTS" - Refrigeration Experts.
• Parking - There are two long parking spaces in front of the Knights of Columbus hall - each space can hold two vehicles. If the spots are occupied, the next building west has room for 4 - 6 more vehicles. There is also additional parking behind the Knights of Columbus hall in a gravel lot - take the drive on the west side of the building. Please note that street parking is not allowed!
• More Driving Directions - Cavalier Drive is off of South Jupiter Road. If you are coming from the north, you will go through a stoplight at Forest Lane, pass under a railroad overpass, through a stoplight at Miller Park, and a stoplight at Marquis, then turn right (west) at the next road to the right (Cavalier). If you are coming from the south, you will go through a stoplight at Kingsley Road, a stoplight at Miller Road, and a stoplight at Security Street, then turn left (west) at Cavalier, the second road after Security Street. From either direction, look for the large Ryder truck facility on the northwest corner of Cavalier and Jupiter.
